An Open Letter to All KW Pool Members

I would like to remind KW Lottery Pool members that I will no longer be accepting after-drawing payments or IOUs for Wednesday drawings. If I don’t have cash in hand from you for an upcoming drawing and we win big? You will NOT be included in any division of earnings from that drawing. No exceptions. No under-the-table payments after a drawing takes place to secure your place in our potential millionaire (or thousandaire) history. You’ve got a week to get your dues in. That’s plenty of time to take care of business.

This doesn’t mean that I won’t ask you for a payment before hand. After all it does behoove the pool to have as many participatory members as possible. But it does mean that I will no longer be necessarily chasing you down for a payment. If you haven’t paid by Wednesday evening? Sorry, you’re out for that drawing. And it only takes one drawing to make that a potentially sad day in history for a past member if the pool wins a big drawing. .

It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you are paid for an upcoming drawing and that information is just a click away at the website/spreadsheet I have made available for all members here through the “Member Payment Info.” link on this webpage or directly through the link below.

Member Payment Info.

On that site, if it says, “Paid” in the second column, you’re good to go for the next drawing. If it’s blank? You owe. Plain and simple. I usually update the sheet immediately if not a day or two after the drawing. The other columns are self-explanatory according to the headings. Banked amounts, when you paid last, etc.

Bookmark this site above, save it in your favorites, or write that website down! I’ve created it for everyone so the question doesn’t have to be asked, “Am I paid for this next drawing?” With 25 pool members and soon-to-be 46 year old brain cells at my disposal – I don’t know the answer to that question off the cuff anymore than you do. How do I find out the answer? By checking the website/spreadsheet. So I ask that you do the same.

I would also like to remind all members that we participate in every WEDNESDAY (not Saturday) drawing when the jackpot amount is above $50 million (or within a couple of million of that figure.) How do you know when that occurs? Check the Oklahoma lottery or national powerball site. It’s on the front page It’s also posted on billboards all over town and viewable on your drive to or from KW.

Since Anna’s heart condition seems to be stable, I’ll be spending more time preparing the numbers for the Pool – rather than doing just straight computer picks. This takes a couple of hours every week – then add in another couple of hours managing payments from pool members, printing the numbers, buying the tickets, and checking the numbers – then making as much as that information available to you through our website and pool payments spreadsheet. I think everyone would agree that you are getting a lot of bang for your buck for my $5 dues you cover each week – which works out to about 20 cents a member – for me managing the Pool.

Please understand, I’m not complaining about managing the pool or preparing the numbers. But I AM complaining about members not paying on time and asking questions about the information that I’ve spent a great deal of time making available to you. I’m asking that if you want to participate in the pool? Please become an active participant in knowing where you stand in your payments. If you do that? Then I can focus more on preparing some potentially winning numbers – which is the part that keeps me interested in being your pool manager in the first place.

No promises, but your active participation and management of your payment history may very well be worth it someday. Just a reminder that it wasn’t TOO long ago that we were one number away from winning $600,000!

Thanks for your continued and long-term support of the KW Lottery Pool.

John
